Arrival at Arcadia Praxisklinik- June 1, 2025

سْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ  (bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi) In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate.

The moment we arrived, kindness wrapped around us like a warm embrace. On that quiet Sunday on June 1, the bistro staff – the only available after hours guide—welcomed us with a grace that instantly softened the fatigue of our long journey. A petite German woman with beautiful, lush, golden curls and a radiant smile walked up to my husband and me, exuding warmth. Her presence was reassuring, a beacon of care in an unfamiliar place.

She had already set aside a steaming, carefully prepared Keto vegetarian meal for me and was now making one for my husband. Her shift had long ended, yet she stayed—choosing compassion over convenience—ensuring that after our long 4.5-hour drive from Rotterdam to Bad Emstal, we wouldn’t go to bed hungry.

But her kindness didn’t stop there. She guided us to our apartment, walking with us as if we were old friends, and pointed out the path to the main treatment centre just a short stroll away. In that moment, exhaustion melted into gratitude. I felt deeply welcomed, not just as a guest but as someone whose well-being truly mattered. As I took in my surroundings, birdsong echoing in the background, a swell of excitement rose within me—this was the beginning of something new, something hopeful.

This was the beginning of my healing journey.
